moved to multiple services and still to have insufficient capacity. In 2009 the breakthrough came with the news that the Wesley Church was to be sold, presenting a both an opportunity and a challenge to seek God further and align to His vision that we would spread out and need to think big! As Pastor Mike Robins says in the explanatory
video there is no reason why the God who gives the vision cannot provide the means to fulfil the vision. Hence the journey since mid 2009 has been one of much prayer and commitment from the Partners and friends of NCC, along with sacrificial giving and fundraising. £135000 was raised by the congregation through gifts, sponsored activities and other fundraising events- an astonishing figure given the financial climate and general deprivation in Newquay. Finally in March 2010 the purchase of the building was completed and the 600 seat landmark building became part of NCC, providing the opportunity for more physical space and a new outlook and access point to the town on East Street.
The first NCC service in the Wesley Church was, appropriately, the Easter Family service on
4th April 2010 and this has given the opportunity to start to use the building in earnest and to
learn more about what now needs to be done to equip and revitalise this precious place for
the next part of God’s plan.
