Key next steps:

  1. To completely re-roof the building in slate tiles, making good where required and adding a high performance insulation layer. This will not only address the leaks but reduce the heat loss and energy wastage we experienced during winter.
  2. To remove the pews from the auditorium to allow for provision of flexible seating, more suitable for our services and events (and of course more comfortable).
  3. To remove the organ. This will free up space to expand the crèche area. This will also release the organ to be refurbished and to be used to the glory of God in worship elsewhere.
  4. To provide a disabled access toilet facility.
  5. To find ways of safely using the balcony seating in expectation of the need for this capacity.

Looking forward:
To continue to build and change under God’s direction. The idea is that “form” (designs, plans, ideas) will always follow “function” (what God needs us to do, mission and ministry). What has been done so far, and the immediate next steps, are not the end but the beginning.
It is our aim to prepare a comprehensive Architects Brief in order to develop concepts and plans for the Wesley Campus to
serve God in our 21st Century community. To support this we will be launching a foyer display “Discovering God’s Heart
for His House” with feedback cards so that we can engage our congregation in gathering “God Ideas” not just “good
ideas” about what needs to be included. This will help us to move forward prayerfully and in united purpose
as we seek to make this place a focal point for God’s love for people here in Newquay. I would like to
encourage you as you read this to participate and to pray that the team has the wisdom,
discernment, creativity and energy to “get it right”.
