Matthew 16 v18 says “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it”. God is in the business of building- lives, relationships, communities. Newquay Christian Centre has been part of His building plan since 1948, founded in a sovereign move of God following a crusade by Elim Evangelist the Rev John Woodhead and his team. Starting life as Newquay Elim Church and empowered by the Holy Spirit the church began the work of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, seeing people’s lives changed through salvation and healing. In 1965 the church relocated from rooms above a local garage to its present Seymour Avenue location where the building has continued. Firstly spiritually: the body of the church being built together as it says in Ephesians 2v22 (as living stones, firmly built on the foundation of Christ himself), and as a result physically with the facilities and ministries developing as the growth has taken place.
